In essence, this website is my iterative presentation of an exploratory framework of Potential, defined as a nebulous yet influential force that drives an individual to reach for higher points of value through uncertainty.

I posit the Potential that an individual possesses comes from an underlying distribution that has infinite variance, implying the likely existence of significant latent capabilities.

In sailing, "navigation" refers to the process of determining a vessel's position and course, as well as planning and executing an efficient passage from one point to another. Within the context of trying to navigate uncertainty embedded within Being, I think that the individual is the vessel, uncertainty is the medium through which the individual aims to map an efficient passage from one point of perceived value in a hierarchy to another point of a relatively higher value in the same hierarchy, and Potential is omnipresent driving force. Given that most individuals operate within a system that involves interacting with other members of a society, embracing an exploratory framework of Potential that has its roots in distributional theory seems to be a decent starting point.

It is imperative to underscore that I do not assert the superiority of this framework or methodology over others as a means of navigating reality. Rather, I am articulating that this model, grounded in first principles, has exhibited utility in my pursuits thus far. With this foundation laid, I’ll introduce additional assumptions and implications that, over time, I’ll subject to scrutiny and iteratively refine.

 Model:

Commencing with foundational assumptions, it is crucial to acknowledge their role in providing a preliminary framework for comprehension, while also remaining cognizant of the necessity to adjust or discard them to better reflect the nuances of reality, albeit at the expense of increased complexity.

  1.  Existence of a self-conscious individual who perceives themselves as possessing agency to enact decisions and actions.

  2. The individual's intrinsic motivation to ascend from a lower stratum of perceived value within a defined hierarchy of values to a higher echelon within the same hierarchy.

  3. The ascent to a higher echelon of value within the hierarchy governed by the instantiation of an indeterminate distribution, thereby introducing uncertainty in the decision-making process.

  4. Recognition of Potential as an intangible yet potent force propelling the individual towards the attainment of elevated levels of perceived value.

  5. Recognition that the Potential that an individual possesses comes from an underlying distribution with infinite variance.

  6. The omnipresence of Potential as a determinant factor governing the spectrum of tasks an individual can proficiently undertake in their pursuit of value ascension.

  7. Inclusion of the individual within a broader collective of fellow beings, each navigating their own trajectories within their respective hierarchies of perceived value.

  8. Acknowledgment that within this collective, individuals autonomously formulate and delineate their personal hierarchies of perceived value, with potential overlaps among them.

  9. Concealment of the realization of potential from direct observation, necessitating inference through either the complexity of tasks undertaken by the Individual or the level of perceived value attained within the designated hierarchy (in essence, no individual possesses the capacity to directly ascertain their own level of Potential or that of others).

Our model unfolds through the lens of an individual navigating this landscape in pursuit of ascension within the value hierarchy. At the onset of such an endeavor, the individual acknowledges the following:

  1.  The initial point is situated within a specific hierarchy, delineating various levels of accomplishment and value attainment.

  2. The individual operates within a collective of peers, all engaged in traversing the same terrain.

  3. Within this cohort, individuals occupy diverse positions along the hierarchy, reflecting discrepancies in perceived value and task complexity.

From an individual's perspective, navigating this realm of uncertainty necessitates grappling with the nature of personal Potential, that in turn is a manifestation of a distribution with infinite variance.

Importantly, I think that the presence of assumptions (5) and (9) in our model imply that any individual on a path of value ascension should not succumb to discouragement stemming from either (i) The perceived distance between successive levels of value within the hierarchy, or (ii) The perceived complexity of tasks that the individual needs to undertake in pursuit of ascension within the value hierarchy.

Consequently, from the individual's vantage point, this inherent uncertainty mandates a course of action characterized by exploration and the willingness to embrace risk that should, in turn, unveil the contours of their latent Potential that may, after all, lie on the far right of the proposed distribution.
